[1] [2] With all the bad news on the economic front these days, it may seem there are no real bright spots in our country.  But maybe so!  Would you believe there are a few cities in our nation that are considered “recession-proof”?  I know that almost sounds Utopian, but it’s been true of these six shining cities since 1980.  They are: 

• Merced, CA
• [3] Grand Junction, CO
• Billings, MT
• Laredo, TX
• Kennewick-Pasco-Richland, WA

So if you want to live the good, no-economic-downturn life, go West, young man or woman to get your next job. 

But wait.  I did say there are six cities, didn’t I?  Are you ready for this?  

• Morgantown, WV                                 

Who knew it would be located in a state that’s in my own Appalachian backyard?  And even closer to my dot on the map is the state capital, Charleston, one of the 29 “almost recession-proof” cities.  Maybe that’s why they call West Virginia “almost heaven”.
